Complimenting each other for a cohesive look

Once you’ve chosen the location, it's time to pick out the perfect outfits! Picking complementary colors and styles is a great way to make sure your photos look polished and cohesive. Play with pops of color or matching neutrals. Also, think about your location when picking your outfits, you want to compliment each other as well as your surroundings so you don't camouflage with the background or fight the color scheme of the setting.

Come up with a fun activity

Shots don’t have to be boring and stagnant – get creative and think about how your engagement session could include something more interactive and meaningful to you two. Maybe it’s going to the park and jamming out with a guitar, exploring the city streets, or even something as simple as reading a book together on a cozy couch. No matter what you choose to do, make sure it's meaningful for both of you and that you have fun doing it!

Make a date out of it

Why not turn your engagement session into a date? You've already put in the work of picking a great location, you've both dressed up for the occasion and the best part, you've already gotten past the awkward first few dates of figuring out "where is this going"... with all that out the way, you can enjoy each other company, flirt and be playful with each other all while documenting your authentic selves and your relationship.

Incorporate Props

Adding props can be a great way to add personality and fun to your engagement photos. Anything meaningful that reflects the two of you is perfect — whether it’s your favorite blanket, some flowers, or a pet. Make sure to choose props that fit the aesthetic of your photos and don’t take away from the focus of the shot — you and your partner!

Follow the sun

Lighting is key when it comes to capturing great photos — which is why we always try and make use of the sun. Check out the direction of the sun and think about when it will be best to start shooting. Sunrise and Sunset tend to bring soft, flattering warm light that makes for beautiful photographs. Typically, we start our sessions an hour before sunrise and two hours before sunset so we can get those magical golden hour photos.

Be yourselves and be vulnerable

No one else can tell your story like you two can – so let your personality shine through! Don’t try too hard to pose “perfectly” — instead show off your relationship with genuine interactions. These authentic moments are what will resonate with you for decades to come. By coming into your session like it's your third or fourth date and the reason why we are so specific is by that point, You've passed the awkward stage but everything is still so new and exciting. Every time your hands touch, those sparks jolt through you or just looking over and admiring the fact that you get to spend this moment with that special person in front of you.

Don't stress
